Tubac Organizations and Foundations

Tubac is home to a diverse network of foundations and nonprofit organizations that preserve history, celebrate art, protect nature, and strengthen community life. Explore the groups making an impact locally and discover ways to connect with their missions.

Originally constructed in 1964 as a neighborhood school, the building now known as the Tubac Community Center first came to life in 1999 from the efforts of community minded residents, prompting a visionary response by the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors.  Today your Center hosts a diverse and dynamic user community that has experienced a 3-fold increase in the past few years.

Now over 50 years old, the THS was conceived in the fall of 1966 by concerned citizens who wanted to save the Old Tubac Schoolhouse, which had been built in 1885. “By organizing THS, its founders not only saved the schoolhouse, which is now located on the grounds of the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum but also established a viable historical society.

The Rotary Club of Tubac meets weekly, each Friday at 7:30am in Stables Ranch Grille at the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa. They are a service organization helping the local community with scholarships, literacy projects, food bank, child welfare, and also international projects.  Each April they host the Taste of Tubac fundraiser to benefit our local community.

TNC is incorporated under Arizona law, and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under Federal tax law. To carry out this mission TNC has its exhibits and headquarters at the Community Center in Tubac. In addition, it provides activities, such as weekly bird walks and hikes, nature walks, nature science classes for kids, the hawk watch in March, dark sky outings, lectures by experts, and other events that foster education about the natural world.

The Border Community Alliance (BCA) is a ten-year-old non-profit organization based in Tubac, AZ. Their mission is to bridge the border and create community through education, cultural exchange, and social investment.
